Urchins are grazers that will search for food and algae on substrate and rockwork. Like most urchins will not eat corals but can damage it by knocking corals over. Urchins may also occasionally feed on coralline algae that some aquarists may be trying to keep. If you do not have enough algae in the aquarium, urchins can be fed by attaching algae sheets to a piece of rock with a clip or rubber band. Some urchins are venomous, but most species are harmless to humans.
