LPS Corals

LPS or Large Polyp Stoney corals are calcareous corals that create a stony skeleton. LPS are described by the large fleshy polyps that generally grow from their skeleton. Many LPS corals are hardy, easy to maintain, and can be somewhat fast growing. Most LPS corals contain "sweeper" tentacles that have the capability to sting near by neighboring corals. They will usually require less PAR lighting and a lower water flow than SPS corals. LPS are generally considered to be Beginner/Intermediate level difficulty.
