The Candy Cane or Trumpet Coral is one of the most sought after LPS corals in the hobby. These Large Polyp Stoney corals are some of the easiest calcareous corals to grow in the aquarium. Candy Canes can typically withstand a wide variety of water parameters and is often recommended as a beginner coral. This colony will continue to grow into a branching structure the resembles a tree. Candy Canes are susceptible to polyp damage if they are given too much flow, so it is recommended to keep these corals near the bottom of the aquarium or in a slower moving area. These corals typically do not require high levels of lighting and would be better suited for areas around or under 100 PAR. We recommend Candy Canes for anyone interested in a pop of color!
