The Rhodactis mushroom is one of the easiest corals to keep in the aquarium. It grows and multiples relatively fast in comparison to most other corals all while displaying some of the most vivid colors imaginable. Rhodactis are differentiated by other mushroom corals in that they have small tentacles or "hair" that covers the top of the coral sometimes giving them the common name of "Hairy" mushrooms. This coral is known to rarely eat small crustaceans and fish whenever proper lighting or food requirements are not met for a long period of time. It is advised to keep this coral at least an inch or two from its neighbors as it contains minor stinging sweepers. Rhodactis corals can tolerate a wide variety of lighting and flow conditions but typically do not withstand high flow areas of the aquarium like most other mushroom corals. They will survive in a multitude of different water conditions and is considered one of the best beginner corals in the hobby.
