Palythoa polyps are easy to keep in the aquarium which makes them a good choice for beginner reef aquarists. With stable water parameters Palythoas will reproduce easily in the reef aquarium by budding which will steadily increase the size of the colony as they attach on to rockwork. They contain the symbiotic algae zooxanthellae which will provide almost all of their nutritional requirements. It is not necessary to direct feed Zoas/Palys. These corals can withstand a very wide range of lighting and flow conditions and may be placed in several different sections of the aquarium with success.
