Montipora Mystic Sunset Plug

Montipora corals are sometimes referred to as vase or velvet corals. They are some of the most well known and most widely aquacultured SPS corals. They are reef safe and peaceful; like many other SPS corals, the Montiporas do not use sweeper tentacles to sting surrounding neighbors. Montiporas can typically be placed in close proximity to other specimen without any negative effects. Montiporas typically prefer higher flow and lighting but will adapt to a number of different conditions. This is one of the easiest SPS corals to grow and is considered a very fast grower with the right parameters. This specimen is an encrusting Montipora and will grow into the general shape of the rockwork that it is attached on. The Mystic Sunset is the perfect representation of "velvet" as the polyps create a very distinct texture on the surface.
